GETTING READY FOR THE SAME-SEX MARRIAGE

If you are brave enough to pop the question or to say “yes”, you have to be ready for some hassle. If you are lucky enough to have a large family and a couple dozen friends, this celebration can be a bit tough to plan. Especially, considering that the majority of the standard wedding planning solutions is still oriented at heterosexual couples. Thankfully, there are many gay men, who have already gone through the process and have some interesting tips to share. Let’s take a look at a few of them.

  1. Sky Is The Limit

You don’t need to worry about doing everything “like everyone else does”. It’s the celebration of your love and union, you can come up with a bunch of ways to honor them. No one expects you to follow the straight traditions, so take the opportunity to reinvent the wedding. Be the first one to come up with a few traditions of your own. Gay men all over the world can follow suit.

  1. Get Creative

Even if you’ve always dreamed of coming up to the altar, it doesn’t mean you have to have bridesmaids or a best men standing near you. You can come up with a creative solution and have a bunch of friends there instead. Unless you’ve always dreamed about a white dress, get creative with outfits. You can get matching suits or have all the guests dress according to certain rules. Just make sure they are easy to follow.

  1. Choose A Romantic Destination

Celebrating a wedding at home is somewhat boring. Consider taking your guests somewhere romantic. Amsterdam, Barcelona, Montreal, and Brussels are destinations to consider.  If you want something closer to home, spend some time researching Lake Tahoe, Pensacola, Ogunquit or Palm Springs. A wedding away from home is an excellent choice for men, who plan to have a limited number of guests.

  1. Don’t Rule Out Pre Parties

Just because you are both bachelors, it doesn’t mean you have to have the same bachelor party for both of you. Consider arranging two different parties. After all, who can stop you from saying goodbye to the bachelor life? You can have the parties on the same night at two different places.

  1. Ask For Help

Even though same-sex marriages are legal all over the United States, men sometimes face unfriendly companies, which offer wedding services. If you hire a wedding planner, you can avoid unpleasant experiences. A wedding is one of the most important events in your life.  It’s up to you to make it unforgettable.
